Strategy Overview

Brimble Hill School are using the funding provided through the COVID-19 catch-up premium to address the barriers to learning for our pupils that have that have been created or exacerbated by the COVID-19 Pandemic.

 

Some of the complications of the Pandemic for our pupils have been:

  • Reduced access to school/education for a short period of time
  • Change in routines around school
  • Reduced access to Social Care and Respite provision for families
  • Reduced/altered access to Health Care
  • Reduced/altered access to leisure activities
  • Change to routines in many areas of life
  • Illness due to COVID for themselves and/or their families

 

The main barriers to learning identified for our pupils due to these complications are:

  • Increased anxiety due to changes in routines
  • Difficulty adjusting to whole class structure and routines
  • Reduced socialisation

 

Some of the complications of the Pandemic for the school have been:

  • Reduced staff attendance due to illness and isolation
  • Increased anxiety due to the pressures around COVID-19

 

Brimble Hill’s strategy for the use of the COVID-19 catch-up premium has been focused on increasing staffing in order that we are able to continue to provide quality education for our pupils and to meet the needs of all pupils, including the increased needs due to the impact of the Pandemic.
